With the country's general elections dominating headlines in the last week, it is worth exploring the main factors that explain this performance, as well as our outlook for the next few years

In recent years, India has drawn investors' attention due to the strong performance of its economy. According to data from India's Central Statistics Office, the country showed average growth close to 5% in the last five years and above 8% in the last four quarters, making it the fifth largest economy in the world.

With general elections in the country dominating the news last week, recurring questions resurfaced. Why is India growing so much? Is it the new China? What is expected for the next few years? In this report, we will make a brief analysis and seek to clarify some of these points, while referencing first-hand experience from our Chief Economist, Gina Baccelli, who visited the country this year.
